Apex Action Funds Spectacular T-shirts for Manchester School

Apex Action was pleased to donate towards the production of over 200 spectacular quiz Team T-shirts this summer, supporting Manchester’s King David High School’s “Beat The Clock” competition for a second year running.

On 14th July students from King David High School, JFS, Immanuel College & Yavneh College gathered at King David High School eager to demonstrate their understanding of a variety of Jewish topics.

Divided into 28 teams every competitor was given one of the brightly coloured t-shirts to wear.  The “Beat The Clock” competition idea was founded by Rabbi Jonny Goodman three years ago & as the title suggests the name of the game is all about speed!

This year, teams were set seven practical time-bound challenges designed to test their knowledge.  In one task they were presented with 67 cards relating to different events in Jewish history & allowed just 20 minutes to arrange them in the correct timeline.

In another test competitors had to create a food hamper, choosing from a selection of supermarket goods to ensure they were kosher.  The hampers also went to good use & were later distributed to underprivileged families in the city.

The final scores were tight, but it was JFS who took the victory, with Yavneh Boys & Immanuel narrowly missing out.

Rabbi Jonny Goodman, founder of the event commented:

“It’s great to see the popularity of this event growing year on year.

As well as building great camaraderie throughout the event, the students also enjoyed getting together the evening before to watch England’s World Cup semi-final against Croatia.

Despite England getting knocked out it didn’t deter them at all.  The students study hard for this event throughout the year & their energy, enthusiasm & eagerness to win is clear for all to see!

We are very grateful to all our sponsors who help to make this event happen.”
