My World Graduation

On Thursday 6th July, BAE Systems, Radway Green hosted a “My World” Graduation Ceremony for staff and pupils from Alsager Community Trust schools, Cranberry Academy, Excalibur Primary, Highfields Primary, Pikemere Primary & St. Gabriel’s Primary.  Chris Hutchings, Managing Director & Debbie Snelson, Commercial Manager of Apex were delighted to attend as VIP guests.

The ceremony was the grand finale of a six week programme which aims to introduce pupils to the world of work.  It was delivered through a series of practical workshops by local employers, including Reaseheath College, Brightstar, Tatton Park and Cheshire Constabulary.

As well as learning about potential careers, the programme teaches important life skills, such as teamworking & resilience, while also increasing aspirations & raising self-esteem.

During the ceremony each Year 5 school team gave a presentation showcasing all they had learnt.  The students dressed in graduation caps and gowns to formally receive their graduation certificate, presented by David Briggs, MBE K St J, The Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire.

Chris Hutchings, Apex Managing Director commented:

“It was a pleasure to join this event and listen to the students talk about the significance this programme will have on their future.  We were also very pleased to provide some funding towards the coach travel to the event, but did have to laugh when Debbie and I ironically missed the coach back!”
