Apex Action Buys Christmas Dinner for Cheshire Without Abuse Clients
This December, Apex Action was overjoyed to support Cheshire Without Abuse (CWA), it’s 2018 Charity of the Year, buying the food for Christmas Dinner for clients who visited CWA on Christmas Day. Twenty-eight people went along & enjoyed an amazing day with delicious food, gifts under the tree & a Christmas quiz put together by one of the clients.
Sharon Stowell, Volunteer & Well-being Activities Co-ordinator, was responsible for organising the event. Sharon & her CWA colleagues, as well as her mum & daughter who went along to lend a helping hand, were up bright & early on Christmas Day to prepare a superb Christmas Dinner. Just days before Apex Action had loaded their supermarket trolley to the brim with Christmas culinary delights, before hand-delivering the items to Sharon.
The shopping list went like this;
Two very large turkey crowns,
4 packs of streaky bacon
2 kg Frozen petit pois
3 bags of parsnips
60 pigs in blankets
3 boxes of stuffing
3 large jars of cranberry sauce
3 large jars of apple sauce
Beverages (soft drinks) 3 Coke, 3 Fanta, 3 lemonade, 2 squash
2 Christmas Puddings
2 x Gateaux (or similar)
4 x cartons of custard
4 x festive table cloths/covers
20 x napkins
… & last but not least 20 Christmas Crackers!
A CWA client said:
“Christmas Day at CWA was like having Christmas dinner at home with family & friends, it was perfect”.
Sharon Stowell, Volunteer & Well-being Activities Co-ordinator commented:
“Thank you so much to Apex for getting the food to us – it really made an enormous difference to the families. New friends & happy memories were made & we were able to make sure that our clients weren’t lonely or hungry on Christmas Day”
