Apex Action Helps Pupils Prepare for the World of Work

Wednesday 7th March 2018 was a big day for pupils at Brine Leas School, Nantwich as they had their first interviews.  Debbie Snelson, Commercial Manager of Apex, joined volunteers from Bentley Motors, Pear Tree Primary School, the Careers & Enterprise Company and parents with HR experience, to undertake mock interviews with over 60 students.

Prior to the interviews the Year 10 students had prepared a CV, considered appropriate interview clothing and explored future work experience opportunities.

Jo Morrison, Work Related Learning Co-ordinator at Brine Leas School commented;

“It was such a wonderful opportunity for our students to have this experience before they need to attend interviews for further education & employment.

Many of the pupils were apprehensive before their interview but afterwards said how much they had enjoyed the experience and valued the feedback.

We really appreciate companies such as Apex giving up their time to help us prepare our pupils for the world of work, and very much hope they will be part of the programme again next year”.

Debbie Snelson, Commercial Manager commented;

“The calibre of students was superb.  Their passion and commitment shone through as they talked about potential careers paths including theatre & TV, hair & beauty, photography, criminal law & even space engineering.  Some exciting futures ahead!

It was an absolute pleasure to be involved, and I hope I’ll be included on the interview panel next year”.
