Apex Action Supports Crewe Alexandra Football Club Family Open Day

On Saturday 21st July Chris Hutchings, Managing Director of Apex Connected, was pleased to exhibit the Apex Land Rover Defender at Crewe Alexandra FC’s Family Open Day.  Alongside the Cheshire Constabulary Police Car, young supporters enjoyed having their photos taken with the vehicles.

Discovered on a farm in Wales, the Land Rover Defender was heading for the scrap heap.   Following its “reuse, renew, repurpose” philosophy & a 9-month restoration, Apex gave the Landy a new lease of life.  Its distinctive wrap & catchy “You Print, We Plant” slogan was inspired by students from Ormiston SWB Academy as part of an art competition sponsored by Apex.

The Landy is now part of Apex Action, Apex’s volunteering & funding initiative for school & community projects.  It has been used for volunteer tree planning days & on display at school fetes to promote the importance of looking after our planet.

The event proved a massive hit with around 1,500 supporters & families visiting Gresty Road Stadium.  There was lots of entertainment on offer including magic shows, balloon modelling, face painting & inflatable slides.

Selecta-Tyre took along their “Speed Goal”.  Participants had to kick the ball into the net as hard as possible & the speed of the shot was recorded.  Prizes were won for the winning speeds.

As no family day out is complete without ice-cream, Whitby Morrison provided free ice-creams, whilst Giovanni’s Restaurant gave out free pizza slices.  The Alex’s new pie supplier, Chase Farm, also donated some of their product for a tasting session.

A highlight of the day was meeting the players after training & putting some of them in the stocks for junior supporters to throw wet sponges at their idols.  Gresty the Lion was of course also in attendance, in big demand from his fans for photograph opportunities.  And to top it all, the new 2018/19 away kit went on sale in the Club Shop!
